The Cain brand was developed to showcase the flavor and strength of Nicaraguan Ligero tobaccos.  At the time of its launch, most cigars didn’t use much, if any, Ligero. Times have changed, and it is now used in many cigars to provide strength and intense flavor. Each version of Cain features a blend of Ligeros from Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa. With the Habano, the Olivas decided to use a blend that is 25% Esteli Ligero, 27% Condega Ligero, 30% Jalapa Ligero. The remaining tobaccos are the Nicaraguan binder and the Habano wrapper grown on Oliva farms. The Cain Habano is medium in strength but loaded with solid flavors of leather, earth, and cedar with hints of pepper and sweet milk chocolate. It’s a great, crowd pleasing blend that continues to win over fans.

At the time of its launch, most cigars didn’t use much, if any, Ligero. Times have changed, and it is now used in many cigars to provide strength and intense flavor. With the Cain F, the Olivas decided to add in additional Ligero from Esteli. It’s the strongest Ligero grown in Nicaragua, and it gave the Cain F additional strength and flavor that differentiated it from the smoother Cain blends. The Cain F is a full and flavorful experience that features tasting notes of pepper, dark coffee, earth with hints of nuts, cocoa, and baking spices.

Cain by Oliva is a brand with an interesting history. It was released in 2009 as a new blend that was part of Oliva’s new age line dubbed Studio Tobac. The Studio also was home to the Nub line of cigars which saw their release in 2008. Each product from Studio Tobac was to be a departure from Oliva’s core lines and showcase a different style of cigar. At their launch, Sam Leccia was to be the face of the brands, but he left in 2010 and Oliva retained the brands. The good news for cigar smokers who developed a rabid following for the brands was they were remaining with Oliva and would continue to be produced. Complicated.
