CAO is the little, boutique, premium cigar brand that has defied all odds in the premium cigar industry. It started as a dream by the late Cano A. Ozgener, who incorporated his passion for fine cigars along with his passion for family to create the CAO brand. Together they grew CAO from a local favorite to one of the most widely recognized names in the cigar industry. When the family sold the brand to General Cigar in 2007, many had doubts that the brand could thrive under the corporate yoke. The brand was put in the capable hands of Rick Rodriguez who had been the heir apparent to Partagas Master Blender Benji Menendez. Those first few years were rocky for CAO and Rodriguez. They had introduced a few new blends that were met with nominal enthusiasm. General decided to give him another chance to create a “true” CAO cigar or he would be out as the brand leader. Rick dug deep and created the CAO Flathead and put the CAO brand back on the path to success.

The CAO Flathead was created to pay homage to muscle cars, hot rods, and the garage mechanics Rick Rodriguez grew up with. This box pressed collection of premium cigars are all named after engine parts, and the labels and boxes are designed to remind you of the cool engine covers of the Ford Flathead V8. Each blend in the CAO Flathead line features a blend of Nicaraguan Ligero and Piloto Cubano Ligero filler tobaccos, along with a Habano Connecticut binder, and a dark, brawny Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Coffee, leather, and smokey woods are the most predominant flavors along with notes of pepper, cocoa, and molasses. The CAO Flathead is a true, American original that just keeps getting better with age!
