Fratello Navetta Discovery Robusto

The Fratello Navetta is a special cigar for Omar de Frias. Navetta is the Italian word for shuttle, and when blending this cigar he wanted to create something that would capture the ultimate feeling of innovation, duty, honor and success of working at NASA. He says that after being part of 21 missions nothing beats the feeling of getting our astronauts home safe to their families. With this spark he created the Navetta blend. It begins with aged Nicaraguan Jalapa fillers and a Dominican Viso binder leaf. Topping off the blend is an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper that has been aged at least 3 years. Tasting notes include flavors of coffee, earth, and sweet cream with hints of anise, black pepper, and dried fruits. It’s a captivating blend and a shining tribute to the men and women of our NASA space program.

Fratello is a unique cigar brand with an interesting backstory. Founded by NASA project manager Omar de Frias, the brand is the fulfillment of his life’s dream. He grew up in the Dominican Republic and was taught from an early age that cigar smoking was the ultimate brotherhood. Being a tall kid, he also played basketball, ultimately playing pro ball in the DR. This experience added to his understanding of brotherhood. Once his basketball career ended, he attended the University of Puerto Rico where he earned his MBA and was recruited by NASA. The whole time he was with the space agency, he dreamt of getting into the cigar industry and changing his career. After 12 years, he decided the time was right. He launched Fratello cigars in spare time. His proudest accomplishment was walking away from a career at NASA to fulfill his dreams with Fratello.
