Illusione Fume d’Amour Viejos

Illusione Fume D’Amour roughly translates to “love smoke.” And it’s a fitting name for a brand created by Dion Giolito, who is as passionate about his love of smoking cigars as just about anything else. Fume D’Amour was an interesting project for Giolito. He challenged himself to create a signature Illusione cigar that didn’t contain a single leaf of ligero tobacco. One thing we’ve learned over the years is that Dion is a master blender of tobaccos, and if he sets his mind on something, the results will be worthy of the effort. This Nicaraguan Puro features well balanced tasting notes of roasted nuts, earth, and cedar along with hints of pepper, caramel, and cream. It’s no wonder that the Fume D’Amour has racked up countless outstanding ratings!

One of our favorite aspects of the cigar industry is the cast of characters that lead some of today’s cigar companies. Some are reclusive and would rather focus on their craft while others are outspoken and ostentatious. However, they all share a passion for outstanding tobacco. Dion Giolito, Illusione’s founder, is what you might call a “super tobacco nerd.” He has a passion for seeking knowledge about different types of tobacco and how they work together when creating a blend. And he’s quite good at it too. It’s why Illusione has garnered a well-deserved reputation and accolades for creating cigars that are known for their balance and intricacy.
