When actor Jeremy Piven decided he wanted to create a cigar bearing his name, he reached out to one of his favorite contemporary cigar makers, Dion Giolito of Illusione. The two hit it off instantly, and Giolito was determined to create something special for his new friend. He reached out to his friends at Aganorsa Leaf to see if he could work something up using their new and highly anticipated Corojo 2012 leaf. They agreed under the condition that it not be used as a wrapper. So DG began working on a blend for JP and settled on Nicaraguan filler, a double binder of Aganorsa Corojo 2012 , and an undisclosed Nicaraguan wrapper. Tasting notes include well balanced flavors of cream, cedar, and spice along with hints of pepper, coffee, and molasses. If you’re a fan of Giolito’s blending style, the Piv Robusto will certainly hit it’s mark.

Some are reclusive and would rather focus on their craft while others are outspoken and ostentatious. However, they all share a passion for outstanding tobacco. Dion Giolito, Illusione’s founder, is what you might call a “super tobacco nerd.” He has a passion for seeking knowledge about different types of tobacco and how they work together when creating a blend. And he’s quite good at it too. It’s why Illusione has garnered a well-deserved reputation and accolades for creating cigars that are known for their balance and intricacy.
