The La Aurora Preferidos Hors d’Age (meaning beyond age) is a cigar that required considerable patience to bring to market. In 2010, La Aurora’s farmers identified several outstanding crops of wrapper, filler, and binder tobaccos. They discussed these tobaccos with the blending team and made a decision to stash these tobaccos away for at least 10 years. They let it go to 11, and in 2021 they decided it was time to create something magical with this tobacco. The blend begins with filler tobaccos from Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua along with a binder leaf from Ecuador. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano leaf with lots of flavor. This cigar is brimming with flavors of cedar, pepper, and earth with hints of leather, baking spices, and nuts. Once rolled, these cigars are aged for 2 years before being released. This ensures the flavors marry well and have time to find a natural balance.

La Aurora was the 1st cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. It was founded on October 3rd, 1903 by Eduardo León Jimenes. He was a hardworking man whose grandfather had been a tobacco grower. Honoring his family tradition, he decided to take things further and established a factory and cigar brand that would eventually become known the world over. Nearly 120 years later, La Aurora has a presence on the five continents; its wonderful cigars are sold in over 60 countries; and they employ more than a thousand people in their factories and facilities.
