Punch Fu Manchu

Over the last few years, many cigar companies have introduced some seriously super premium, limited edition cigars to celebrate the Chinese New Year. For the last few years, Punch has had a unique approach to creating cigars for this celebration. They offer a new limited edition cigar every year, but they are not priced into the stratosphere. Their Chinese New Year cigars are fairly priced quality cigars with character and lots of flavor. The series draws inspiration from the names and packaging of Chinese-American takeout food. It’s a fun and distinctly Punch approach. The Punch Fumanchu cigars are made in Honduras with a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Mexican filler tobaccos. The blend also features an Indonesian binder and Honduran wrapper. What really catches the eye is the long pigtail running down the side of the cigar that is meant to resemble the long Chinese braid worn by Fu Manchu on-screen (from Peter Sellers’ final film, The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu). Tasting notes include flavors of earth, toasted nuts, and cedar with hints of honey and pepper.
